Recently the roads in Holland have become more beautiful. The company P.J. Noordam has upgraded their truck into a mobile advertisement for Lilies. We, at Mak Breeding, are very happy that 3 promising OT’s from Mak breeding where chosen for this promotion. The varieties Palazzo®, Zambesi® and Tabledance® are shown to the world as soon as the truck hits the road. We are confident that the mentioned varieties will soon be available at the flower auctions world wide.

Like last year, the lilies and tulips dominate this Midwinterflora. With over sixty entries the Lily was indeed well represented. Part of the entries consisted of the LA's. This type lily can not compete with orientals and OT’s and actually deserve there own contest.
The big winner was the company Mak Breeding with the pink OT lily Tabledance® that had a wonderful exhibit. The second and third prize was reserved for the white Orientals Asterian® and Valdez® from Mak. The uniformity, proper ripeness, the bright colors and dark green leaves made Tabledance® the best lily vase in the league. The whole presentation won the first price wit a score of 9.40 with the compliments of the jury.

On 29 December 2011 a very well-attended conference was organized in the middle of the lily production area in China (Yunnan, Dounan). This meeting was organized by Kunming Windmill horticulture Co., Ltd. (Gert v / d Velden) and the Yunnan Flower Industry Office.
More than 700 growers where offered a fascinating full-day program that ended with a dinner for all attendees. Gert van der Velden gave his views on developments in the lily industry in general and that of the lily industry in China in particular. On behalf of the Dutch lily breeding companies Mr. Paul Augustinus explained about the breeding process and paid attention to the new varieties that are expected in the Chinese market. There were also several other speakers, and there was also time for a variety of song and dance performances. Afterwards all participants received the recently released poster with new OT varieties of Mak Breeding, that was specially translated into Chinese for this occasion and was expanded with a calendar.
At present still an immense advertisement for the new Mak Breeding Ot’s is shown on the building of China largest flower auction in Dounan. until now the assortment of lilies used in the Chinese market is still very limited, but through such advertisements, the Chinese forcers are tempted to try out new introductions.
