Mak Breeding shows high quality in the 2011 edition of the Lily Show at Keukenhof.
Potlilies
It’s clear that the innovation in the pot orientals is making progress. More than 20 different varieties were submitted for judging including a number of varieties. It where those new varieties that reached the highest score. Mak Breeding won this contest with the red Oriental 2100-303. The second and third place were also occupied by new varieties of Mak Breeding. The pink/white POR 1100-24 was second and third came the white XD POR-342-10 that stood out for its large flowers.
The pot Asiatics were well represented with nearly 30 varieties. Mak Breeding reached second place with the Orange Tiny Invader®. The first place was won by the yellow pot asiatic Goldwing® (bred by Mak Breeding) from The Originals BV.
Cut Lilies
In the category Asiatics and LA’s Vletter den Haan scored high. The bright yellow Pratolo® was undisputed winner in this category.
The pink OT Tabledance® reached the highest score of all OT’s what made this variety the best OT Hybrid for 3 years in a row.
In category Longiflorum / LO the battle for the first place was exciting. Remarkably, this year more lilies in this group were offered for judging then previous years, demonstrating that de breeding in Longiflorums is still offering exciting results. Mak Breeding reached the third and second position with White Walhalla® and the upright Illusive® but, with a minor difference, the variety Watch Up of Marklily became first in this competition.
The Oriental competition is in recent years the biggest contest with over 50 entries. The differences were small at the top which is also reflected in the scores. Vletter den Haan and won in this competition with the white Sellano with a score of 9.38. Mak Breeding became third in this group with the pink/white Camengo® with a score of 9.35
The Lily show at the keukenhof will be open until May 20th.
